Arrive into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKA) in Kenya and then transferred to your hotel in Nairobi . No activities planned, you check into your rooms and enjoy a well-earned rest.
Today we drive 2 1/2-3 hrs. Our safari begins by traveling north from Nairobi towards Mt Kenya, a massive snow capped mountain astride the equator. En route we pass through Kenya’s lush farmland of the Kikuyu people and arriving at our hotel that is located on the base of Mt Kenya.
Today is a fun-filled day, kicking off with a bike ride in the morning through the lush area on the slopes of Mt Kenya, cultural interaction, horse riding (optional), walks.
Today you will drive 2 1/2 – 3 hours to Samburu game reserve. From the cool mountain forest, our routes passes through the equator skirting by Mount Kenya to the vastness of the northern Frontier District.The road descends to arid plains to the famous Samburu Game Reserve. We will have dropped 5,500 feet in elevation and traveled through incredible habitats today. Our home in Samburu will be the modern Samburu Serena Lodge, which is built amidst river line woodland. We will spend 2 days driving through this beautiful terrain of Samburu National Park looking for the unique animals to this region.
Today we will have a full day exploring this arid but incredibly rich Eco-system look for unique wildlife and birds. We shall also interact with the Samburu tribe, who are cousins to the Masai tribe and enjoy seeing their traditional way of life utilizing camels as a nomadic tribe.
Today you will 21/2 -3 hrs to Ol Pejeta in Laikipia. It is a private ranch with magnificent views across the plains of Africa to the snow capped peaks of Mt Kenya on a 90,000 acres of private land. Located on the ranch is a chimpanzee sanctuary established by the Jane Goodall Institute, the only one of it’s kind in Kenya.
Today You will drive 3-4 hrs to Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha will be our next two days home. Lake Naivasha is one the fresh lakes in the Great Rift valley and a popular spot for bird watching and game viewing on crescent island . It is also home to George and Joy Adamson, author of ” Born Free” . During our stay at lake Naivasha, we shall visit George and Joy Adamson former house. The house contains a small collection of Joy Adamson’s painting and artifacts, memorabilia from the Born Free film and a range of photos documenting their work on conservation and the relationship with the lioness Elsa . We shall also explore the Hell gate national park. The park is famous for it’s sheer vertical cliffs that are popular with rock climbers, trekking enthusiast and birders. Walks and biking (for rent) are offered at the park, an incredible way to experience and enjoy wildlife up close.

After breakfast you will drive 5 – 6 hours to Masai Mara which is an extension of the Serengeti Ecosystem and is located at the Southwest corner of Kenya. It is Kenya’s most popular park and among the top game reserves in East Africa. The wildlife is abundant here any season.
A full day in Masai Mara and there will be two game drives, early in the morning and late in the afternoon. In between the game drives you will have lunch and then visit a Masai Boma village. The Masai Boma is a settlement village and is designed for protection of their cattle from predators and other tribes. The men usually build a circular fence using the prickly branches of thorn bushes. Inside the fence, along its perimeter the women build igloo shaped houses of branches and grass and then seal them over with a thick layer of cow dung for warmth and dryness during the rainy season. While we visit the Masai Boma you will get the opportunity to see how the Masai live amongst the animals and wildlife, you will also be able to watch them dance and talk with the Masai about their culture and society.
Today you will have another beautiful day in a different part of Masai Mara. After breakfast you will go for a long game drive across the plains to the hippo pools in the Mara River. Here you will sit on the edge of the river and watch the herd of hippos and their babies all interact, with each other while the crocodiles sunbathe across the river. The scene is truly spectacular!
After After breakfast we shall do the last game drive enroute to the airstrip to fly back to Nairobi and then fly back home in the late evening.
