Day 1: Nairobi
Today we shall spend a full day exploring some unique
part of Nairobi. We will start with an excursion to the
Karen Blixen house where the house history dates back to
1914 during the 1st World War with the arrival of Karen
Blixen, the author of "Out of Africa," from Denmark.
Karen Blixen established herself as a farmer at the
foots of the Ngong Hills till her departure in 1931. The
next stop will be at Daphne Sheldrick Elephant
orphanage, This is a rehabilitation facility for
elephants and other wildlife where they are then
released back into the wild when they are ready. It was
established in memory of David Sheldrick, a famous
naturist and founder of Tsavo East National Park in
Kenya. We will then proceed to Bomas of Kenya, a
cultural center that exposes you to different tribes in
Kenya. The center allows you to see the diversity of
cultures that make up Kenya. The term "Bomas" means a"
homestead" in Kiswahili, Kenya's national language.

Day 2: Naro Moru Village
Today you will drive 2 – 3 hours to Naro Moru village.
The village is located at the base of Mt Kenya, 170 km
north of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. The local
people in this small, rural town are very friendly and
enjoy meeting other people from all different walks of
life. Naro Moru village is a small town that consists of
small shops, houses, basic restaurants, bars , basic
lodgings, a post office, a gas station, small bank, and
the Naro moru River Lodge a top range lodge set in a
landscape of gardens along the Naro Moru River. The
nearest mid-range restaurant, internet cafe and grocery
store can be found in Nanyuki which is a typical small
country town 30 km from Naro moru village. The drive
takes you north through Kenya’s lush farmland.
Activities: Drive to Naromoru village, an afternoon rest
& introduction to basic kiswahili language( Kenya &
Tanzania national language)

Day 3, 4 & 5: Naro Moru Village
There will be three days of community service and
community interaction in Naro moru village. We shall
live, eat and share in the daily life's of the locals,
visit a local school and a reforestation program that
was formed by a local self help group in the community
and we will assist any whatever needs to be done in the
project. The tree reforestation program is a volunteer
program based on raising
awareness in the community about the problems of
deforestation. The tree project has formed a tree
nursery so that trees can be planted in the bare areas
of woodland to protect the wildlife and safeguard the
essential water needed for the people and wildlife in
the area.
Activities: cultural interaction, community service&
local school visits, basic Kiswahili

Day 6 & 7: Lake Naivasha
Today you will drive 3 - 4 hours to lake Naivasha our
next two days home. Lake Naivasha is one the fresh lakes
in the Great Rift valley and a popular spot for bird
watching and game viewing on crescent island . It is
also home to George and Joy Adamson, author of " Born
Free" . During our stay at lake Naivasha, we shall visit
George and Joy Adamson former house. The house contains
a small collection of Joy Adamson's painting and
artifacts, memorabilia from the Born Free film and a
range of photos documenting their work on conservation
and the relationship with the lioness Elsa . We shall
also explore the Hell gate national park. The park is
famous for it's sheer vertical cliffs that are popular
with rock climbers, trekking enthusiast and birders.
Walks and biking (for rent) are offered at the park, an
incredible way to experience and enjoy wildlife up
close.

interaction, hike, bike( rent bike ) , basic kiswahili

Day 8: Masai Mara
Today you will drive 5 – 6 hours to Masai Mara which is
an extension of the Serengeti Ecosystem and is located
at the Southwest corner of Kenya. It is Kenya’s most
popular park and among the top game reserves in East
Africa. The wildlife is abundant here any season and
during your visit you will see lion prides, elephants,
giraffes, hippos, cape buffaloes, zebras, impalas, topis,
hartebeests, wildebeests and the rare black rhinos,
spotted hyenas, silver jackals and cheetahs more game
and predators. We shall stop in Narok town for gas and
lunch. With our guidance you will have an hour to
explore the small town of Narok, interact with the local
people and use your basic Kiswahili language ordering
meal at local restaurant.

Day 9: Masai Mara
Today we shall spend a full day in Masai Mara and there
will be two game drives, early in the morning and late
in the afternoon. In between the game drives you will
have lunch and then visit a Masai Boma village. The
Masai Boma is a settlement village and is designed for
protection of their cattle from predators and other
tribes. The men usually build a circular fence using the
prickly branches
of thorn bushes. Inside the fence, along its perimeter
the women build igloo shaped houses of branches and
grass and then seal them over with a thick layer of cow
dung for warmth and dryness during the rainy season.
While we visit the Masai Boma you will get the
opportunity to see how the Masai live amongst the
animals and wildlife, you will also be able to watch
them dance and talk with the Masai about their culture
and society.

Language}

Day 10: Masai Mara
Today you will have another beautiful day in a different
part of Masai Mara. After breakfast you will go for a
long game drive across the plains to the hippo pools in
the Mara River. Here you will sit on the edge of the
river and watch the herd of hippos and their babies all
interact, with each other while the crocodiles sunbathe
across the river. The scene is truly spectacular!
Activities: Explore different areas of Maasai mara ,
cultural interaction, wildlife viewing, ecology of Masai
Mara

Day 11, 12,&13: Loita Hills
This is an incredible opportunity to spend 3 days in the
deep Maasai country in the Loita hills located in the
South west part of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. There
are views of the Great Rift Valley with its volcanic
mountains and softly rolling hills. Besides the close
encounter with wildlife, we camp, bush walk, live, learn
and experience the life style and culture of the Maasai
people.
Activities: Drive to Loita hills on day 11, cultural
interaction, bush walks, sleep over in a Masai Boma
(option), Maasai language, Maasai dances etc.

Day 14: Nairobi
Today you will drive 4-5 hours to Nairobi for overnight
and prepare for the next part of adventure on the Kenya
coast.
Activities: drive to Nairobi, cultural interaction,
sight viewing

Day 15,16, 17, 18: Lamu
Today we will take a flight from Nairobi to Lamu. Lamu
is a small island that sits in the warm waters of the
Indian ocean off Kenya coast where history and culture
stands still, the streets are narrow and the local boats
and donkeys are the main transport. Lamu is one of the
Kenya oldest towns and it has retained all the charm and
characteristics built over many centuries. You will be
able to interact with the Swahili people, sail in the
traditional boats called dhows, an ancient Arab sailing
vessel, and explore the beautiful town of Lamu and other
villages within the Island.
Activities: sailing adventures, snorkeling, cultural
interaction , Kiswahili language , Lamu Museum, visits
to local villages and beach.

Day 19: Nairobi and homeward bound
We will spend the afternoon in Nairobi finishing our
shopping and getting ready to fly back to the United
States. We will have a farewell dinner together in
Nairobi before taking a flight back to the United States
in the late evening.
